A major step forward has been announced for a Tenby housing development.
Pembrokeshire County Council has confirmed the award of a pre-construction service agreement for the Brynhir project.
After evaluating a two-stage tender, the contract has been given to Morgan Construction, based in Carmarthen.
The contractor is expected to start work on site in the summer of 2025.
This start date is subject to several conditions, including meeting planning requirements, considering ecological periods, and ensuring minimal disruption during the peak tourist season.
The project is planned to be completed in eight phases, allowing for homes to be ready sooner.
The full development is set to be finished by 2029.
A total of 125 homes will be built by Pembrokeshire County Council at Brynhir.
These will vary in size and include 93 affordable housing units, 16 shared ownership properties, and 16 for open market sale.
The development will also feature various play and recreational areas, with direct links into the town.
Councillor Michelle Bateman, cabinet member for housing, said: “I am delighted that we have reached this stage, and I look forward to seeing the site take shape.
“This is a significant development for Tenby and the surrounding area, providing much needed affordable housing.”
People interested in the properties are advised to complete a housing application form to join the Choice Homes housing register.
Those already on the register do not need to take any further action at this stage.
There will be a local connection requirement applied to the development, with criteria to be developed closer to the first phase completion.
For more information, potential applicants can see the Choice Homes Pembrokeshire website.
