A Gavin & Stacey finale script signed by Nessa and Smithy just sold for a huge amount

The final script of the popular comedy series Gavin & Stacey, signed by the characters of Nessa and Smithy, has been sold for over £50,000. The script was offered to fans through an online raffle as part of a fundraising effort for charity.

Robert Wilfort, who portrayed Stacey’s brother Jason West in the successful sitcom, donated the signed keepsake as a prize for a performing arts group. Robert, 47, hailing from Porthcawl, expressed his delight at giving die-hard fans the opportunity to own a “unique” piece of memorabilia.

He said: “I knew the show finale would be popular, to put it mildly, and I thought it would be good to do something with that popularity. There’s a fantastic charity near to me, I’ve had a long association with them, so I got in touch and said, ‘Shall we raffle off the script?'”.

The winning ticket was drawn on Monday, January 13, with all proceeds going towards The Theatre Shed – an inclusive theatre company catering to both disabled and non-disabled children. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.

Alice Connor, the artistic director of The Theatre Shed, said: “Being able to raise money like this is so imperative to help us keep going. We don’t get any statutory funding, and it’s been a tough year for us as a small charity.” Over 4,500 people purchased the £5 tickets for the raffle after the script was autographed by the main cast members.

More than 12m viewers tuned in to watch Gavin & Stacey: The Finale on Christmas Day. It was the last ever episode of the series that has been on our screens and in our hearts for 17 years. The final episode saw the Shipman and West families reunite for one final time, with many of the beloved cast members – including Robert Wilfort, reprising their roles in the special episode.
