These amazing aerial shots from our archive show Tredegar House and the city centre of Newport during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
All of these images allow you to take a real step back in time and wander down memory lane to see what one of Newport’s most beloved areas and tourist spots looked like in years gone by.
From the early 15th century to 1951, Tredegar House was the home of the Morgan family. This beautiful mansion and the gentry that occupied it are fascinating, and the heritage building is now under the care of the National Trust.
Tredegar House was home to the wealthy Morgan family for almost five centuries.
Today, visitors to the house and formal gardens may occasionally glimpse the gardeners working in the grounds, meet with the staff that serve in the Brewhouse Café, or the welcome team in visitor reception.
