Aldgate East underground station track casualty: Man dies

Officers from the British Transport Police were called to Aldgate East underground station at around 2pm today (December 17) after being alerted to a casualty on the tracks. 

They were dispatched to the scene with London Ambulance Service colleagues, where a man was found injured and taken to hospital. 

He has since died.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Aldgate East underground station at around 2pm today (17 December) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Tube lines remain affected (Image: Contributor) “Paramedics also attended, and a man was taken to hospital, however has since sadly died.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

All Circle and District line services between Barking and Tower Hill have were stopped since 2pm in the wake of the incident, though the Circle line is now reporting to be operating a ‘Good service’.

The District line remains impacted with “severe delays”, according to TfL.

The Hammersmith and City Line is also affected, with no trains stopping between Liverpool Street and Barking.

Commuters planning to travel on the affect routes can alternatively use their tickets on the on the London Overground, DLR, C2C, South Western Railway and buses.
