Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Amy Dowden has teased a possible special return to the show ahead of this weekend’s final after being forced to pull out from injury.
The dancer, 34, from Caerphilly dropped out of the BBC competition just weeks into the new series, after being hospitalised for a leg injury during a live show in October.
It was later confirmed she would not be returning to the ballroom with her celebrity partner JB Gill, who would instead be dancing with Lauren Oakley for the rest of the season.
It was particularly heartbreaking for Amy to miss out, as she’d returned to Strictly this year after being diagnosed with breast cancer in May last year and sitting out of Strictly 2023, reports the Metro.

She was thankfully given the all-clear in February after undergoing treatment, and bravely opened up about her health struggles, including fertility problems, sepsis, and losing her hair. Amy has returned to Strictly in recent weeks, showing her support for her co-star Lauren and JLS singer JB.
And she’s now teased a return ahead of the final, which will see the Beat Again hitmaker compete for the glitterball trophy against Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, comedian Chris McCausland and Miranda actress Sarah Hadland.
Taking to Instagram with a grinning selfie, she wrote: ‘Back dancing in this magical ballroom.’ She later shared a video reuniting with Strictly dancer Carlos Gu as they rehearsed for their 2025 tour.

It comes after Amy appeared on ITV’s Lorraine show a week ago ahead of the Strictly semi final when she spoke about JB. She told host Christine Lampard: “The first time I took hold of JB and did a few steps I knew he had the potential, the talent, musicality, the groove in his body and I think he will be in that final. We speak most days and I’ll be cheering him on.”
She also spoke about another TV setback. Amy had filmed a Celebrity MasterChef Strictly takeover for a Christmas special featuring four professional dancers from the BBC series including Gorka Marquez, Kai Widdrington and Nancy Xu alongside her.
But following allegations of inappropriate behaviour from MasterChef host Gregg Wallace towards a number of women, the BBC has pulled the show as well as another Celebrity MasterChef festive special.
Amy spoke about her disappointment when she appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Friday, December 6, which was hosted by Christine Lampard.
“I’m gutted about that,” Amy told Christine. “I did have a lovely time but I can’t comment further about that as it is under investigation. I’m actually gutted, I can’t say I’m the best chef but I did my best.”
The Strictly Come Dancing 2024 final airs on Saturday at 6pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
