A busy train station in London has been evacuated after what was thought to be a “suspicious package” was found.
The discovery was made by staff at Liverpool Street station at around 7pm yesterday (December 17).
Officers attended and a part of the station was evacuated as a precaution and a cordon was put in place.
The item was assessed by specialist officers and confirmed to be non-suspicious.
The station has now reopened and all services have returned to normal.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were on patrol at Liverpool Street Railway Station at around 7pm (17 December) when they were called by staff to a package thought to be suspicious.
“Part of the station was evacuated as a precaution and a cordon put in place.
“The item was assessed by specialist officers and confirmed to be non-suspicious.
“The station has now fully reopened.”
