Calling all poets this event organised by Wisbech Stanza Group is open to all


The Wisbech Stanza Group is excited to announce its fifth-anniversary Poetry Open Mic Night, taking place on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the historic Octavia Hill’s Birthplace House.

This special occasion will feature a variety of talented poets, both seasoned and emerging, sharing their original works.

Performing poets will have the opportunity to submit their original poems for publication by the Wisbech Stanza Group and there will be a poetry bookstall selling the Wisbech Stanza Group’s first publication, a collection of poems to celebrate our first five years, as well as publications by local poets.

Doors open 6:30pm Poetry from 7pm and admission is free, and all are welcome to attend and perform. There will be an open sign-up for performing poets on the night.

The host will decide the time limit or number of poems per poet.

This is the first of the group’s Poetry Open Mic Nights and others are planned at Octavia Hill’s Birthplace House in May and September as well as continuing the group’s our monthly poetry workshop group at Wisbech Castle on the first Wednesday of the month from February to December.

The Wisbech Stanza Group is a local community group founded by Dr Kim Allen, former Fenland Poet Laureate, dedicated to creating a poetry community-based in Wisbech.

Through regular meetings, workshops, and events, the group provides a supportive environment for poets of all levels to connect, share their work, and develop their craft.
