Traffic Wales has revealed the best and worst times to travel on Wales’ main roads this Christmas. This weekend is set to be busy on the roads as people head away for their festive breaks.
It comes as Wales is set to see for another weekend of unsettled weather. While there could be settled weather overnight on Friday, December 20 and into Saturday, December 21, there could be strong winds on Sunday, December 22. You can read more about the weather this weekend here.
This will mean that motorists will need to take extra care on the roads, due to how busy they’ll be and the potential weather we will be experiencing. Traffic monitoring service Traffic Wales has now revealed when various roads in north and south Wales are expected to be at their busiest. A55 Conwy

According to Traffic Wales, the peak times for the A55 Conwy is between 10am and 4pm, with over 4,000 motorists using the biggest road in north Wales around 11am.
A55 Llanelwy – St Asaph

The A55 between Llanelwy and St Asaph’s peak times is between 10am and 4pm, with over 5,000 motorists travelling on the dual carriageway between 10am and 12pm.
A483 Wrecsam – Wrexham

With peak time between 10am and 4pm, the A483 in Wrexham sees the most vehicles between 12pm and 1pm, with over 4,000 motorists.
A55 Llaneurgain – Northop

On the A55 between Llaneurgain and Northop, peak time is during 11am and 4pm, with the highest amount of vehicles on this road at around 1pm with over 4,000 motorists.
A470 Pontypridd

On the A470 Pontypridd, peak times are around 11am until 4pm, with just over 2,500 vehicles on the road at around 12pm.
M4 Coryton – Capel Llaniltern

For the M4 between Coryton and Capel Llaniltern in south Wales, peak time is during 10am and 4pm, with over 6,000 motorists travelling on this motorway at around 12pm and 1pm. The road is at its quietest during this period around 7pm, with just over 3,000 motorists on the road.
M4 Port Talbot

Peak times is during 10am and 4pm for the M4 Port Talbot, with its highest at nearly 5,000 motorists at 11am and 1pm.
