Crematorium donates nearly £900 to charity helping families affected by miscarriage

A charity that helps families affected by miscarriage has been given a financial boost.

Langstone Vale Crematorium has donated £889 to Morgan’s Wings, using proceeds from its metal recycling scheme.

The crematorium, part of Westerleigh Group, recycles metals recovered during cremation with the consent of families, and uses the money raised to support charities and initiatives that benefit the community.

The donation will help the South Wales-based charity, which was founded by Jude and Geoff Davies after they lost their child Morgan during pregnancy, to continue their work.

The crematorium manager Aaron Carter said: “The charity was founded by Jude and Geoff Davies, after losing their child Morgan during pregnancy.

“The charity operates entirely through the generosity of local people and businesses, it does not receive any external funding.

“Jude and Geoff have transformed what was an extremely difficult and emotional time for them into something which brings vital support and comfort to other parents in similar circumstances, and we are only too pleased to be able to make this donation to help them continue their incredible work.”

Mrs Davies said: “Our aim is that no family should feel alone in their journey through loss.

“We strive to honour the lives of babies lost through miscarriage and early pregnancy loss, and to educate others about the impact of miscarriage and the importance of support.

“This donation from Langstone Vale Crematorium will have a profound impact, enabling us to continue our vital work.

“These funds will help us provide memory boxes to grieving families, giving them something tangible to honour their loss, and a place to keep cherished items from their pregnancy.”

She added: “Additionally, it will allow us to supply hospitals with hygiene care packages, offering parents a small measure of comfort during an incredibly difficult time.

“We are deeply grateful for this support, which helps us ensure no family feels alone in their journey through loss, and we thank Langstone Vale Crematorium for helping us share our mission.”

The crematorium is one of 41 sites in the UK owned and operated by Westerleigh Group.
