More than 1,000 plastic ducks took to the River Gwaun for the annual Boxing Day Duck Race organised by Fishguard and District Round Table.
Crowds gathered along the banks of the river in Lower Town to see whose duck would cross the line first and scoop the top prize of £100.

But the biggest prize of the day was the fundraising total of £2,000, which will all be donated to the Wales Air Ambulance charity.

Taking top spot with Duck 807 was the £100 prizewinner Rachel.
Second place, and a £50 prize, went to Duck 94, belonging to Glenys Hughes.

In third place with Duck 119 was Howard Hughes, who won £25, while Duck 937 – owned by Julia Moffett – had the dubious honour of drifting home in last place.
The Christmas 2023 event saw several ducks making their escape from the flotilla, but this year, contenders were slightly better behaved and kept on track in the river on their way to the finishing line.

A Fishguard and District Round Table spokesman said after the event: “Thank you so much to everyone who bought ducks, came down to Lower Fishguard, sold ducks on our behalf at your businesses and everyone else who supports us throughout the year.
“Thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised £2,000 for Wales Air Ambulance, and had a great time doing it.”
The Wales Air Ambulance delivers advanced lifesaving medical care to people across Wales 24/7.
They are the only air ambulance charity, based in, and dedicated to, the people of Wales and rely entirely on charitable donations to raise £11.2 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air and fleet of rapid response vehicles on the road
