Crown court date looms for man accused of Shanklin burglary

AN ISLE of Wight man accused of entering a Shanklin home as a trespasser with the intent to cause damage will go before a judge in the new year.

The case of Lewis Fleming, of Osborne Road, Ryde, was heard before Portsmouth magistrates on Monday, December 9.

The 33-year-old is charged with burglary, with intent to cause damage, on Atherley Park Way in Shanklin, on December 8.

He is also charged with criminal damage, failure to provide a specimen for a drug test, and threats to damage/destroy property, on the same date.

Mr Fleming’s case was adjourned for a plea and trial preparation hearing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on January 6, 2025.

He was granted conditional bail until that date.
