Pembrokeshire County Council has extended the deadline for residents to apply to sit on its Governance and Audit Committee.
The new deadline is January 31.
The council is seeking a lay person to join the committee, which is responsible for reviewing and scrutinising the authority’s financial affairs, assessing risk management, and evaluating the authority’s corporate governance arrangements.
The successful applicant will need to show a good understanding of the audit function and demonstrate a commitment to values such as accountability, openness, and sound financial management in the public sector.
However, prospective lay members must not be current or recent local authority officers or members, nor can they be spouses or civil partners of such individuals.
The appointment will be made by a panel that includes an independent chairman, three council members, and a community council member.
The role comes with an allowance for attendance at governance and audit committee meetings.
Applications are invited from all sectors of the community.
For more information about the role or to apply, potential candidates should contact Lydia Cheshire on 01437 775356 or email lydia.cheshire@pembrokeshire.gov.uk.
