Developer delivers session to Pembrokeshire students

A South Wales developer has delivered an educational session to Pembrokeshire College students.

Lovell, a leading partnerships developer, hosted an engaging two-hour session for 35 business students at the college, located near its new Augustus Grange development in Haverfordwest.

The interactive session, led by Lovell’s community development co-ordinator, Meriel Gough, and marketing and business development co-ordinator, Noorhan Griffiths, focused on the company’s responsible business practices.

The session covered topics including health and safety, sustainability, and support for staff, contractors, and the community.

Lovell’s joint work with Pobl at the Augustus Grange development, which will provide 115 two and three-bedroom homes, was also highlighted as an example of the importance of partnerships.

Lovell assistant quantity surveyor, Will Treharne, also shared his career journey and offered advice on navigating careers in the construction sector.

Following the session, the students left with a newfound understanding and appreciation of the sector, as well as Lovell-branded water bottles, made from recycled plastic found on UK beaches, and bamboo-made branded pens.

Pembrokeshire College business lecturer, Roanna Wootton, said: “Today’s session with the Lovell team was incredibly impactful, providing valuable insights that learners can directly apply to their assignments.

“It was a great opportunity for learners to bridge the gap between theory and real-world experience.”

Gemma Clissett, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: “We are thrilled that the students enjoyed the session and learnt valuable lessons about business, construction, and partnerships.

“This sector is incredibly rewarding, and there are so many different roles and opportunities available, so it’s wonderful to inspire future colleagues with sessions such as this.”

The Augustus Grange development, being realised in association with Pobl Group, will consist of 115 homes, 69 per cent of which will be affordable.

Situated off St David’s Road, the development is just six miles away from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Future residents will be able to take advantage of the coastal landscapes, various shops and restaurants, as well as commuter links by both road and rail.

Lovell, a leading provider of partnership housing, has been involved in community-building for more than 50 years.

Haverfordwest, the historic county town of Pembrokeshire, is home to the landmark Haverfordwest Castle, which dates back to the 12th century, and the Western Cleddau river.
