EasyJet has issued a warning to passengers about the importance of ensuring their booking name matches their passport. The issue was highlighted when a customer queried whether using a chosen name, rather than their full passport name, would cause problems.
The customer asked: “Say theoretically the name on my passport is Mohammad Adam Khan and I’ve booked a ticket with my chosen name which is Adam Khan. Would that be an issue?” EasyJet responded by stating that this discrepancy would indeed cause a problem, advising: “The booking needs to match the name on your passport.”
The airline also reassured the customer that they could amend this detail via the ‘Manage Booking’ feature. The easyJet website further emphasises this point, urging customers: “Please ensure the passenger’s full name matches the ID they will be using to travel, including middle names.”

It’s worth noting that there can be fees involved if you need to change details of your flight. For instance, changing the name on a booking costs £55 online and £60 if arranged through the customer services team.
However, changes relating to spelling mistakes or title alterations are free. The customer later confirmed they had successfully changed the name via online chat without incurring any charges.
They also said that the error occurred while making an online booking for a large group. Through the Manage Bookings feature, you can rectify names and spelling errors, as well as modify flight times, dates, and destinations.
You also have the option to alter or add seats to your booking and include hold luggage, sports equipment or increase your weight allowance. If you wish to cancel your flight within 24 hours of booking, there is a £49 fee online and a £55 fee with the customer service team.
Regarding name changes, the easyJet website states: “Title changes and Spelling mistakes, limited to three characters per name, can be done online either via our website or mobile app free of charge. To change a passenger’s name you will need to sign in using the email address and password used to make the original booking.
“You’ll then be able to view your booking under “View Bookings” and choose which booking you would like to make changes to. You can also do this via our mobile app.”
