Escape to the Country couple miss out on dream Welsh home after ‘unrealistic’ budget

Escape to the Country couple were forced to abandon their dream Welsh location as they quickly came to the realisation that their budget wasn’t big enough.

During Friday’s (December 20) episode of the BBC hit show, Alistair Appleton was joined by couple Leela and Peter, who lived near Stansted Airport in Epping, Essex, around the peninsula.

The duo had a budget of up to £500,000 for a three bedroom detached property with a large garden, sea views, and holiday let potential. The keen golfers were also eager to get away from the noise to the place where they had spent summers with their children, having picnics on the beach and playing in the sand.

Alistair went all out and set up a number of homes to view, however at the end of a busy week it was clear that the couple had to consider surrounding areas to get the house they truly loved.

Leela admitted: “I liked the mansion, it was a fantastic property. It really was. I think I wanted to be on the Gower but what I realised was, if we wanted to be there we have to up our budget in order to get the sort of property I would like there and it’s just not realistic.”
