Sutton Council has released details on how bin collections will work in 2025.
Sutton Council is responsible for the collection of household waste and recycling.
They offer services including general rubbish bins, recycling bins, food waste collections, and garden waste services.
The dates of bin collection will vary depending on which part of Sutton you live in.
To find out when your bin day is, check the Sutton Council website.
The binmen will collect or empty your bin as long as it is out by 6am on your collection day.
Residents must make sure that their recycling and waste are in the correct containers.
The bin crews may not be able to collect your bin if your rubbish is not in the correct type of bin.
Residents living in a house should leave their bins at the front of their property.
They will collect if your bin can be seen easily and on the edge of your property where it meets the main road.
If this is not possible, bins and boxes can be left on the pavement, but only on the day of collection and must be removed as soon as possible after collection to prevent obstruction.
If any bins and boxes aren’t clearly presented, the binmen will skip that home.
Sutton Council has distributed caddies to residents to dump their food waste in, and those follow the same regulations as bins.
For wheelie bins, the lid must be fully closed to be collected.
All general waste must be stored in the brown wheelie bin only.
Those living at home with no frontage should place their recycling, waste bags, and food waste caddies at the front of their property.
Those living in flats in Sutton should leave their bins in their communal waste collection areas by the designated collection day.
They will not collect it, however, if the bin is not left for collection at the edge of the property.
If your bin contains waste that should be in a different bin, it will not be collected.
It will also not be collected if the bin is overflowing or if the lid doesn’t close.
If a bin has been missed despite meeting the requirements by Sutton Council, residents must report it on the website.
