Famous comedian comes to Barnstaple

One of Britain’s favourite comedians, Ed Byrne, is set to bring his critically acclaimed show to Barnstaple as part of an extended nationwide tour.

The Best Comedy Show 2023, his most personal performance to date, will be at the Queen’s Theatre on Monday, 26 February, with performances running until April 2025.

Byrne, who has been a beloved figure in British comedy for over two decades, is taking a unique approach in this show by using the formula, “Tragedy Plus Time” –  a quote often attributed to Mark Twain.

In his new show, he explores the most tragic event in his own life, turning it into a hilarious and heartfelt experience for the audience.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Byrne is a regular on some of TV’s most popular panel shows, including QI, Mock The Week, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, and Have I Got News For You.

He has also hosted Live At The Apollo and Comic Relief Bake Off, and most recently appeared on Celebrity Best Home Cook (where he made it to episode 5) and won celebrity versions of The Chase and Pointless.

Known for his sharp wit and passion for the outdoors, Byrne has also ventured into factual broadcasting.

He presented Volcano Live on BBC Two, and his adventures took him on a thrilling journey through Siberia for World’s Most Dangerous Roads.

His love of mountaineering and hill walking was also showcased in Into The Wild with Gordon Buchanan.
