A fire service is seeking community ambassadors to improve its understanding of communities.
The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, covering nearly two-thirds of Wales, is looking for volunteers to engage with the community and provide feedback to help shape the services provided.
The service, which includes 58 stations and employs about 1,300 staff, is the third largest by area in the UK, and covers Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Powys, and Swansea.
Volunteers will act as a link between the fire service and the community, sharing important information, promoting involvement, and representing local views.
The role is open to anyone, including representatives from organisations, businesses, community groups, or individual community members, who can commit a few hours each quarter.
Key responsibilities include building relationships with community members, organisations, and stakeholders, assisting with designing and implementing initiatives that address community needs and interests, attending meetings, and providing feedback on campaign materials.
The role is voluntary and as much or as little time can be committed. The force is looking for a few hours per quarter.
Benefits to volunteers include personal development, learning opportunities, meeting new people, and making a positive community impact.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Our communities are at the heart of everything we do.
“We remain committed to protecting and serving our community and are passionate about ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizens we serve.
“We want individuals who can support us in raising awareness of our work and inspire communities to take action and share their views.”
Expressions of interest can be sent to MAWWFRS engagement, planning and performance manager Amy Richmond-Jones at a.richmond-jones@mawwfire.gov.uk.
