Flash flooding was reported in Swansea and Cardiff as a warning and more than 25 alerts have been issued across Wales. The Met Office said that “heavy and persistent rain” tracked eastwards across Wales with more than 25mm of rain falling on Wednesday evening.
There were reports of flash flooding in Coryton, Cardiff, and at the Woodman pub in Blackpill, Swansea, as heavy rain fell around 6.30pm.
On Thursday morning, Natural Resources Wales has issued one flood warning and 26 alerts across the country. The warning is for the River Loughor at Ammandford and Llandybie.

The environment agency says the warning is for low lying property in Ammanford, Llandybie and Aberlash adjacent to the river Loughor upstream of its confluence with the River Amman, including Carmarthenshire College. For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter.
The alerts are in place across the country including on the Rivers Wye and Usk in Powys, parts of the River Ely, and rivers in Neath and Llanelli. Here is the map:

There is more rain in the forecast on Thursday. The Met Office forecast for Wales says: “Bright start with sunny spells during the day, although blustery showers feeding into northern and western counties, falling as sleet and snow over the mountains. Feeling cold in brisk northwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.”
The weekend is also looking unsettled with BBC Breakfast presenter Carol Kirkwood saying that it will be windy with the chance of weather warnings being issued.
The forecast for Wales says: “Mostly cloudy with rain gradually spreading southeastwards on Friday across the region, clearing into the evening. Milder than Thursday but with blustery winds picking up in strength again. Maximum temperature 10 °C.
“Further rain or showers during the weekend and on Monday. Often blustery, and particularly windy on Saturday with coastal gales. Coldest on Sunday with notable wind chill.”
