Food and drink venue in Pembrokeshire town celebrates third anniversary

A popular food and drink venue in a Pembrokeshire town celebrated its third anniversary on Sunday (December 15).

Hwb, Narberth is renowned for hosting four independent producers such as Top Beef, Bee’s Thai Kitchen, Grub and Tikka G as well as selling a wide selection of original beer from their bar.

The venue was converted from a former Victorian primary school and has an average rating of four and a half stars out of five on TripAdvisor.

Director of Hwb in Narberth Chris Lees-Price said: “In no way does it feel like nearly four years since Rob, James and myself sat in the office above the Brewery with a blank whiteboard, the plan of a building in need of many hours of work and an idea.

“We knew immediately that we wanted multiple food offerings and a large drinks selection and that was the beginnings of what would become Hwb.

“A place for socialising with friends and family, work meetings or just a welcoming space to sit, read a book and have a quiet drink.”

Chris continued: “It felt surreal to see people with their Hwb cards and t-shirts in front of us, sharing in the excitement.”

Despite the cost-of-living crisis and energy costs skyrocketing, the venue became somewhere locals would return to show their support, as the hundreds of Club Hwb members continues to grow.

“We get so many lovely messages from both regular visitors and people fresh off the back of a first-time visit. It goes a long way to confirming that our idea, all those months ago, was shared and enjoyed by many.”

“We could not have got to this point if it were not for the continued support of the many fantastic, local business’ that we still work with to this day.”

“The brilliant building team that gave this old school a new lease of life, makers of the fantastic produce that we use every day, our incredible team, and the amazing kitchens within Hwb.”

Indeed, Chris and the founders are especially thankful to the local community who have embraced the venue.

“The third milestone is an important one in the hospitality industry and one we are extremely grateful to have reached.

“We have some big plans for future events at Hwb but that is a story for another day, for now we are going to enjoy what we hope will be a great festive season for everyone.”
