A popular free light trail is set to return to Battersea Power Station this month.
From January 23 until February 23, Battersea Power Station in south London will play host to its annual winter art light trail and it costs absolutely nothing to visit.
Marking its fifth year, this popular riverside festival will feature eight light art installations from a mix of both British and international artists, amidst the setting of this Grade II* listed landmark.

Among them will be four bespoke installations created exclusively for Battersea Power Station including Aurora, created to resemble the Northern Lights by James Glancy Design, which can be found in the Art Deco Turbine Hall.
Some of the installations, like Bloom created by Kumquat Lab, will feature interactive elements and soundscapes, with this light sculpture inspired by the pollination process and resembling a plant with ten luminous spheres.
Italian artists Luigi Console and Valentina Novembre’s installation Never Ends features a horse that, when ridden, springs lights into action, making for the perfect Instagram moment.

If you visit the festival on January 23, 25 or 26, you’ll also be treated to roaming performances taking place in Power Station Park and on Electric Boulevard in celebration of the festival.
After perusing the light trail, Battersea Power Station has plenty to offer, with 150 shops, bars and restaurants to explore, if you fancy some shopping or a bite to eat at restaurants like Sticks‘n’Sushi, Dishoom or Brindisa Tapas.
Over the winter months, visitors can find Chimney Cake, a winter pop-up hut in Malaysia Square where you can get chimney cakes, nodding to the power station’s iconic chimneys.

“We take pride in supporting some of the world’s leading light artists and are thrilled this year to feature four UK debut installations, plus an exclusive, brand-new piece of light art which has been commissioned for Battersea Power Station.
“The Light Festival is also a great way to kick start a very exciting year for Wandsworth, which has been named the London Borough of Culture for 2025.”
