‘Gentle and kind-hearted’ man killed in motorbike crash

Tributes have been paid to a “gentle and kind-hearted” man who was killed in a motorbike crash in mid Wales. George Joseph Powell, 21, died on Sunday December 15, following a collision involving his yellow Honda motorcycle.

The crash happened at approximately 1.45pm on Sunday on the A490 between Welshpool and Guilsfield in Powys. Police confirmed that George died at the scene and the road was closed for several hours to allow collision investigation work to be carried out by the emergency services.

His family has now paid tribute to a “loved son, brother and grandson”. They said: “Georgie was a gentle and kind-hearted boy who always saw the best in people. He also loved animals, all big and small. His sweet and caring nature shone through in everything he did. He was the best parts of all of us. A loved son, brother and grandson. We would be grateful to now be afforded the time to grieve.”

Dyfed-Powys Police is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash and is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the MSX 125 motorbike travelling through Guilsfield towards Welshpool shortly before the collision to come forward. Anyone with any information – or who may have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage – is asked to contact police online, by e-mailing 101@dyfed-powys.police.uk, or by calling 101.
