Gwent businesswoman hoping to inspire other women from her area

PILL business owner hopes to inspire woman from the area to start up their own businesses.

Louise Davis has lived in Pill since she was a one-year-old.

She started her own decorations business from scratch in the area.

“I want to to open the doors for other Pill businesswomen,” said Ms Davis.

Ms Davis said her business, Lou’s Bows, has been running for seven and a half years. Lou’s Bows makes items like bows, for special occasions.

Last month she won a second-place award at the Best of Welsh Wedding Awards.

Although she has had great success in the last seven and half years, Ms Davis said she did not intend it to turn out that way.

“It was not intentional at all. I started making things for my daughter’s christening because the prices were diabolical,” said Ms Davis.

Ms Davis makes bows and other decorations for all kinds of events and celebrations, such as christenings, weddings and birthdays. She also arranges the decorations for funerals.

Currently Ms Davis said most of her work currently is in Newport and Cwmbran but she is looking to expand her business further.

She is taking bookings for clients from Caldicot and Cardiff and in the New Year hopes to go even further afield.

Ms Davis said the bets part of her job is getting to chat to people everyday, saying: “I am happy to serve people.”

Ms Davis said she loves working with clients and figuring out how to make the best decoration items for them and their personal tastes.

“I truly believe it is because I am a people person,” explained Ms Davis on why she enjoys it so much.

Ms Davis said that is the enjoyment in interacting with people is most important part of her business and is why she gets loyal customers.

“My customers are amazing. I could not ask for any more,” said Ms Davis.

Part of inspiring others to take the leap and start their own businesses is because Ms Davis wants to people to be confident in their own abilities no mater where they have come from.

“You can do anything you want, it does not matter where you are from,” said Ms Davis.
