‘Tis the season for hosting and what better way to impress your guests than with a delicious treat that will send them into taste haven?
Many of us will be enjoying classic Christmas treats this season, from turkey dinners, mince pies, Christmas pudding and more. But before you sit down for your main feast, you might want to serve up some treats for guests to enjoy. Or if you are having a Christmas party before the big day, it might be a good time to try out a new recipe for some treats for your guests to snack on.
Canapes always go down a treat, and one food blogger Sarah Rossi, better known as Taming Twins, shared her ultimate step-by-step guide for making delicious pigs in blankets sausage rolls from her book What’s For Christmas Dinner? The book came out in mid October – just in time for the jolly season.

Speaking on her TikTok page @tamingtwins, where she shared a tutorial video, the food lover said: “Pigs in blankets sausage rolls. The best new hybrid for Christmas. These are so easy and so good!”
To bake the recipe you will need 400g of pork sausages (about six), 84g of prosciutto (about six), 320g of rolled out puff pastry street, 50g of cranberry-sauce, one beaten egg as well as two teaspoons of poppy seeds.
Sarah started out heating her over at 200C, then kicked off by chopping up six sausages into halves. Then, she wraps a piece of prosciutto around each sausage piece.
Next she rolled out a sheet of pastry and cut it into 20 even squares. After she spreads cranberry sauces across the middle of the pastry sheets, before adding her pigs in blankets in the middle. Then you need to pull the sides of each pastry sheet and wrap it around the meat.
Lay out some grease proof paper onto a baking tray, before adding on your little treats on top. Next, whisk an egg before brushing it over the top of each one as well as some poppy seeds. Place in the oven for 15 minutes and wait until they rise and turn golden brown before serving and enjoying.
In her cook book, Sarah added: “My love of a good sausage roll knows no bounds, so it was only a matter of time until this delicious hybrid appeared. We’ve used prosciutto here rather than regular bacon, as it’s thinner and works better hidden beneath the pastry.
“Don’t be tempted to add more cranberry sauce – it will leak out of the rolls and burn. The poppy seeds are optional.”
People rushed to comment on Sarah’s video and one individual said: “Yum! Pigs in blankets in sleeping bags.” “They look so yummy,” said another.
One other said they are “running” to make the treats. “Looks lovely,” said another. “Oh wow,” added another.
