The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court recently,
HAYDON END: Lenim Silvino, of Zakopane Road, has been sentenced for indecent exposure.
The 19-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to exposing his genitals to a minor on a bus travelling through Swindon on January 6, 2025.
He has been remanded in custody until his sentencing, which will be at Swindon Crown Court on February 7, 2025.
EAST WICHEL: Martin Bradford, of Offerton Road, has been sentenced for shoplifting.
The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing fries and a case of Madris, worth £16 altogether, from a Swindon Co-op on January 9, 2025, as well as taking various items worth £15 from the supermarket on December 14, 2024, and eight cans of cider worth £11 from the same chain on January 6, 2025.
He also took items worth £2.50 on November 23, 2024, goods worth £13.95 on November 8, 2024, and four microwave meals worth £14.60 altogether from the supermarket on November 24, 2024.
The defendant also admitted to having an offensive weapon – a hammer – at Newbridge Close on April 14, 2024, which has now been forfeited and destroyed, and failing to surrender to custody at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on January 6, 2025, having been released on bail in criminal proceedings on December 18, 2024.
He received a 24-week prison sentence – because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders and for people and their property – which has been suspended for 12 months.
SHRIVENHAM: Hayden Wesley, of Charlbury Road, has been sentenced for assault by beating.
The 58-year-old pleaded not guilty but was later found guilty of hitting a man in Swindon on October 18, 2023.
He must pay £300 in compensation as well as a £200 fine and court costs of £300.
PARK NORTH: Martin Morgan has been sentenced for various offences.
The 39-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to stealing perfume worth £100 from the Swindon town centre Boots on December 8, 2024 and, on the same day, breaching a criminal behaviour order imposed on January 20, 2023 as well as breaching the order again by entering The Parade branch of Tesco on December 10, 2024.
He has been fined £200 altogether and had his criminal behaviour order amended to ban him from Swindon town centre from 9am to 6pm unless he has written proof of a pre-arranged appointment with Barclays.
TOOTHILL: Matthew Glover, of Stamford Close, has been sentenced for three offences.
The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to attempting to steal two cans of alcohol worth £5 altogether from the town centre Iceland and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause fear of unlawful violence against a person in Swindon on November 25, 2024, as well as taking items worth £91.44 from Boots on November 11, 2024.
He received a community order that requires him to carry out up to 15 rehabilitation activity days, pay an £80 fine.
TOWN CENTRE: Rebecca Cole, of Spring Close, has been sentenced for shoplifting.
The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing cream worth £27 from Boots on September 8, 2024, and electrical goods worth £60 from the same shop on August 21, 2024.
She must pay back the value of the stolen goods in compensation.
CALNE: Darren Wells, of Warren Crescent, has been sentenced for common assault of an emergency worker.
The 47-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to hitting a police community support officer and a police constable on November 29, 2024, and admitted to being drunk and disorderly in The Strand, Calne, on the same date.
He must pay £50 each in compensation to his assault victims.
