Increased police presence as suspect on the loose after ‘women assaulted’ in Sidcup

An increased police presence is expected in Sidcup following reports of assaults on women, as officers search for a suspect.

The Metropolitan Police has alerted communities in Sidcup that there will be “high visibility patrols” in the area after reports of assaults on women.

A post made on the @MPSBexley ‘X’ account has confirmed that the force is aware of social media posts referring to the alleged incidents.

The nature of the assaults have not been confirmed, though an investigation is underway after one incident has been reported directly to officers.

Efforts are being made to identify and locate a suspect in connection to the report.

The statement reads: “We are aware of social media posts regarding assaults on women in the Sidcup area.

“We can confirm that there has been a report of one offence to police in relation to this which we are currently investigating.

“Please be assured that we are working hard to try and locate a suspect, and local officers have been tasked with high visibility patrols in these areas.”
