Fire crews have been back to the scene of a fire at a Cardiff self storage unit. Emergency crews had been called to a blaze at The Big Padlock Self Storage on Clydesmuir Road Industrial Estate, Tremorfa, on Monday afternon.
Local residents were told to keep doors and windows closed as crews dealt with the fire. South Wales Fire and Rescue said the fire was reported just after 2pm.
Crews, appliances, and specialist rescue equipment from Cardiff Central, Ely, Maindee, Barry, Penarth, Duffryn, Malpas, Pontypridd, Roath and Caerphilly attended the scene and were there untikl late on Monday night. Police were also at the scene to assist fire crews with their work. A spokesperson for the fire service said that a reinspection was carried out on Tuesday, December 10, and “some hot spots were dampened down.”
They added that an investigation into the cause is underway, saying; “Fire Investigation Officers are at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and it will take a few days to determine.”
