Love Island fans may remember that one of this year’s Love Island All Stars contestant’s, Elma Pazar, actually entered the Love Island villa with Maura Higgins in the 2019 season of Love Island.
Humorously referencing their bond when she re-entered the villa, Elma stated: “My claim to fame is that I walked in with Maura Higgins.”
In 2019, the pair’s dynamic appeared to be one of close friendship and mutual support when they joined the villa together. But what has happened since, and are they still in touch? For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter

A quick recap
Elma Pazar, a beauty technician from Essex, entered the Love Island villa as one of the late arrivals. Though her time on the show was short, she quickly made an impression with her confident personality and straightforward attitude.
She became known for having strong opinions and for briefly catching the eye of Anton Danyluk. However, after just a few days, Elma was eliminated from the villa.
Maura Higgins, on the other hand, made a much bigger splash during her time in the villa. With her bold personality and unfiltered approach to love, Maura became a firm fan favourite.
Despite not finding lasting love in the villa, she stood out as one of the most memorable contestants to ever feature on the show. Her pursuit of Tommy Fury, who we all know eventually chose Molly-Mae Hague was one of the most dramatic moments of the series, but Maura remained confident and quickly won over viewers with her humour and unapologetic attitude.
Although Elma and Maura were both newcomers to the villa, they did form a bond during their time in the show. They seemed to get along well and even became close during their time there. However, once the cameras were off, their paths started to diverge.
Post-villa careers and different directions

After leaving the villa, both Elma and Maura turned their attention to the entertainment world, but in different ways. Maura’s career took off quickly after Love Island. She became a successful model and television presenter, with major brand deals and TV appearances. In 2020, she appeared on Dancing on Ice and even joined Love Island USA as a presenter.
Her quick rise in fame was partly thanks to her vibrant personality and her ability to connect with fans. She also became a social media influencer, working with fashion brands and gathering a massive following.
Elma, on the other hand, didn’t quite reach the same level of fame as Maura. While she hasn’t been involved in major TV shows, she has appeared on The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) and continued to work in the beauty industry.
Elma focuses more on her beauty business and posts lifestyle content on social media. While she has a dedicated following, she’s kept a much lower profile compared to Maura.
Elma’s ‘claim to fame’ and their relationship today
Elma’s “claim to fame” often gets mentioned when she talks about her time on Love Island. She’s joked that her main claim is that she “walked in with Maura Higgins,” and spoken kindly about her in interviews.
So while it is clear that while Maura has moved on to bigger media opportunities, she still has positive memories of her time on the show with Elma.
But as Maura is known for her close ties with the show and often attends events where other former contestants appear, who knows? Perhaps Elma’s comeback to the Love Island All Stars series this year will help the pair rekindle their friendship once Elma leaves the villa.
