‘Magical’ Christmas light trail in South Wales named among the UK’s best

A “magical” Christmas light trail located in the heart of Cardiff has been named among the best in the UK for 2024.

More and more Christmas light displays have began popping up across the country in recent years.

With so many displays and Christmas fast approaching, it can be hard to decide which ones to visit before the big day.

With this in mind, The Times has come up with a list of the best Christmas light trails in the UK for 2024.

Introducing the list, the news outlet said: “Bringing cheer and brightness to the darkest months, Christmas illuminations have blossomed in recent years all over the UK.

“You can find them in parks, woods and gardens, zoos, cathedrals and even steam trains.

“In November and December, you’ll discover twinkling tunnels, glowing lanterns, flaming torches, lasers, neon swirls and stirring seasonal music.

“And don’t forget the mulled wine and hot chocolate to warm you up on a wintry walk.”

The Christmas at Bute Park light trail was described by The Times as the “biggest, brightest and most popular” in Wales and a “magical experience” by event organisers.

To add to the excitement surrounding the festive event, the Cardiff-based light trail has been “completely re-imagined” this year.

The news outlet explains: “This year the deal is a completely reimagined route across 15 themed zones, including immersive, cutting-edge sights and sounds featuring lasers, fire gardens and shimmering globes.

“The avenues twinkle with halo trees, luminous marshmallows, a river of light and spiropath, all dancing in time to original music.”

It’s not just the light trail that visitors have to look forward to, the Bute Park set up also has its very own Christmas Village.
