Man, 20, seriously injured in Gwent car crash

A 20-year-old man from Beddau has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a car crash.

The emergency services were called to Mafon Road in Caerphilly along the A472 yesterday evening after reports of a serious ‘road collision.’

Because of the severity of the event the road was closed overnight.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “We received a report of a road traffic collision on the A472, between Nelson and Ystrad Mynach, at around 10:15pm on Saturday, January 11.

“Officers attended, along with personnel from the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Welsh Ambulance Service, and the collision involved two cars, a red Ford Fiesta and a black Ford KA.

“The driver of the Ford KA, A 20-year-old man from Beddau, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.”

The road has now reopened.
