A 23-YEAR-OLD with a history of offences against women has admitted assaulting a woman.
Zachariah Roberts, of Marble Hall Road in Milford Haven, was accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a woman on November 7.
He was also charged with a lesser alternative offence of battery, where he was accused of assaulting the woman by beating her.
Roberts denied the assault charge, but admitted battery.
Francesca Parry, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that these pleas were acceptable and that a trial would not be sought on the assault occasioning actual bodily harm charge.
Ms Parry said that Roberts had a history of offending against this complainant, as he was previously sentenced to a community order for sending her voices messages threatening to kill her, and then in February was sentenced to 12 weeks, suspended for 18 months, for assaulting her whilst she was on a video call with her sister.
Roberts was back before the court in August for breaching that suspended sentence, which was made “more onerous” with the addition of 30 more hours of unpaid work and an additional four rehabilitation activity requirement days.
David Singh, for Roberts, asked for a report to be prepared to update the court on the progress the defendant had made during his suspended sentence.
Judge Catherine Richards remanded Roberts back into custody and adjourned sentence until December 16.
Ms Parry formally offered no evidence on the assault occasioning actual bodily harm charge, and Judge Richards entered a not guilty verdict.
