Man dies on railway as police issue appeal

Officers have appealed for information after a man died on the railway in Liverpool. British Transport Police confirmed that they were called to the scene at Broadgreen Station following reports of a casualty on the tracks on at around 5.05pm on Wednesday, November 18.

Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious. The man was identified as 77 year old, Mr David Lloyd Hughes.

Mr Hughes was born in Buckley, Flintshire, but at the time of his passing was believed to live in Penyffordd. According to the police force, it is also believed he may have a brother in New Zealand, however despite extensive enquiries, the force confirmed that officers have been unable to trace Mr Hughes’s next of kin or any other family members to inform them of this sad news.

British Transport Police are now trying to locate the family of Mr Hughes. They are appealing for any relatives or anyone who may have information about Mr Hughes’s family to come forward and assist their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 465 18/11/24.
