A TENBY man has been found not guilty of intending to maim another man by throwing bleach at them.
Dean McCartney, of Newell Hill, appeared at Swansea Crown Court charged with two offences.
He had been accused of throwing bleach with intent to burn, maim, or disfigure another man in Narberth on September 5.
He was also charged with wounding with intent relating to the same incident.
The 29-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was remanded into custody and a trial date was set for March 5.
At a previous hearing, defence counsel David Singh told the court that a witness described the complainant as “clearly the aggressor”.
The case came back before Swansea Crown Court after a review of the evidence by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Prosecutor Alycia Carpanini confirmed that the CPS now intended to offer no evidence on either charge.
“There’s been slow progress in this case,” said Judge Huw Rees.
“This defendant has been in custody throughout.
“This is concerning, isn’t it?”
The prosecution formally offered no evidence for either charge, and Judge Rees entered not guilty verdict on both.
“He will be released,” Judge Rees said.
“He is certainly discharged from this indictment.”
Turning to the defendant, he said: “Subject to prison regulations, you should be released as soon as possible.”
