Formal identification is yet to take place.
Three other people were also hurt during the fight, their conditions were assessed as non life threatening.
Witnesses told Metro that before police arrived they saw a gang of four people chasing a “middle-aged” man through the area, with one “swinging a tomahawk axe as the others brandished broken bottles”.
The 24-year-old witness said: ‘I looked out and there was a man swinging and running after a middle aged guy. He had an injury above his eyebrow.
“Others chasing him had bottles. They were really going for him. As they were attacking him I was on the phone to the police describing what was happening.
“It was so violent I saw another man injured as well. It all seemed to be connected with the barbers.
“There was a room on a red dress there as well they had been at a sorry party.”
A large crime scene was put in place with a number of road closures following the attack.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Police said the nature and cause of the injuries, including identifying what weapons may have been used, will form part of the investigation into the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and my team of experienced detectives is working at pace to establish why Nash was murdered and bring those responsible to justice.
“We are urging anyone who was in the area or who knows anything about what happened to come forward.
“We particularly want to hear from anyone who was at the Front Line Cuts barber shop or the Paradise Cuts barber shop, both in Acton High Street, between 10pm on Saturday and 4.30am on Sunday.
“What you know, however insignificant it may seem now, could hold the key to this investigation.”
