Molly-Mae Hague did not shy away when asked whether her break-up with Tommy Fury was a publicity stunt at an event to promote her upcoming fly-on-the-wall docu-series.
The influencer and boxer, both 25, originally met when taking part in the 2019 series of Love Island and got engaged in July 2023 after welcoming their first child – a daughter called Bambi – earlier that year. They shocked fans when they announced last August that they had split.
As reports that Fury had been unfaithful began to do the rounds, which he denied, both of them insisted that there would be no way back and that they were instead focusing on co-parenting Bambi.
Fast forward to New Year’s Eve, the former couple were spotted kissing at a star-studded party and are said to have secretly reconciled. This has sparked a backlash with some claiming that they never really broke up and that it was all to grab headlines.
Facing sceptical press, including The Standard, at a launch event in Central London two days before the aptly timed first three episodes drop from her six-part Prime series Molly-Mae Hague: Behind It All, Hague was adamant that her and Fury’s break-up was “not a publicity stunt”.

While she stopped short of confirming that they were together, the Stevenage-born personality did say that they were currently “navigating a really complicated time”.
Setting the record straight, Hague said the break-up was not the focus of her new series.
“Obviously we do talk about the break-up, we’re very honest in what we share with the break-up, but it’s so much more than a break-up documentary,” she said. “It focuses on parts of my life that I haven’t really delved into before [like] motherhood, body confidence, running my two businesses and just doing all of that while having a two-year-old. Navigating that all through a break up has been a really challenging time.”
Of their deciding to call time on their five-year relationship, she went on to say: “I wish it was a publicity stunt because it would be a lot easier.
“I think to have those comments – I do see those comments – I see all of them like people saying you know, this has obviously been done for the launch of my brand or a publicity stunt and that is very painful to me because it’s real life. Tommy and I have a baby together and it’s very, very real and it’s really hard thing that we’ve both gone through in the last six months.

“I wish it was a publicity stunt because it would be a lot easier but it isn’t and I think this documentary will clear up any questions of that you see like the real side to it and it’s a bit like you’re a fly on the wall. I think people will be quite surprised with how honest we’ve been.”
When drawn directly on the kiss, she said: “We are navigating a really complicated time in both of our lives, like in the public eye and I think this is a whole new territory for me. Tommy and i’s relationship has been in the public eye always but to deal with this break-up with millions of eyes watching us is hard and it is complicated. The reason I don’t comment about it on my YouTube or socials is we both are navigating it ourselves as adults, as parentsm and we’re doing the best we can.
“I really do feel like the documentary is going to answer a lot of questions and we do touch on that situation. The last thing I want is any confusion.”
The first three episodes of Molly-Mae Hague: Behind It All are available to stream on Prime Video from January 17 with three more following in spring.
