New research shows that even though it makes them miserable, Brits still regularly head to the pub. The Annual Fun Report by PlayOJO, thas looked at the nation’s attitude towards leisure activities and visiting the pub was far down the list, below activities such as walking or lying on the sofa.
Despite two-thirds (66%) of Brits confessing they regularly visit their local, and one in five (20%) admitting they visit at least once per week, only a quarter (25%) of people actually enjoy themselves once they are there.
Brits now get more enjoyment out of going for a walk (50%), lying on the sofa or in bed (30%) or even getting cosy and doing some crochet (26%) than they do from meeting their mates at their local boozer.

A spokesperson for PlayOJO said: “Meeting your friends for a drink down the local is a celebrated part of British culture and history, but it appears the tide may be turning. With living costs continuing to increase and a shift towards healthier lifestyle choices, especially from the younger generations, many are shunning the pub in favour of other activities and many who are still going are no longer enjoying it as much as they used to. Taking part in leisure activities and hobbies, whether that’s having a pint at the pub or otherwise, helps to break up the monotonous cycle of everyday life and we urge you to find your fun in a way that works for you.”
