Morrisons has confirmed that its Sutton store will not reopen in time for Christmas.
The store at 31 High Street closed in early July for essential maintenance.
At that time, Morrisons said that the store would reopen by the end of August.
In October, Morrisons confirmed that the store would be closed for an “extended period” due to “significant” issues.
In November, Sutton Council confirmed that no applications have been received to change the use of the store.
Morrisons has now confirmed that the store will not reopen in time for Christmas or before the year is over.
A spokesperson for Morrisons told Your Local Guardian: “The Morrisons in Sutton closed for maintenance work in July.
“Since then, detailed surveys have uncovered some underlying issues which we’ve been investigating further.
“Unfortunately, it has become apparent that these issues are significant and as such the store will remain closed for an extended period whilst we look in detail at the options for the store.
“There is no further update to share at the moment, but we will keep you updated once there is.”
