Newport has been named as one of the best places to spot ‘Santa’ in the UK.
This comes after leading small business insurance provider Simply Business analysed more than 900,000 insurance policies to find the top five places for a professional Santa sighting.
Newport was ranked fifth on the list, behind Huntingdonshire, Hampshire, Warrington, and Fife.
South Wales professional Santa, Allan Evans, revealed that his Christmas planning starts well in advance.
Mr Evans said: “The group of professional Santa’s I belong to in South Wales are always booked out way ahead of the Christmas period.
“In previous years, I have opened my books in July, but I started getting enquiries and bookings in February this year, and I have already had enquiries for next year’s events.”
However, Simply Business also revealed the regions with the least number of professional Santas, which include County Durham, South Tyneside, Wiltshire, and Brighton and Hove.
Bea Montoya, UK chief operating officer at Simply Business, said: “We’re here to support all the Santas and festive helpers out there.
“These small businesses bring so much magic to their communities during the Christmas season, and we encourage people to get into the festive spirit and visit their local Santa.
“Supporting these small businesses can have such a positive effect in our communities.”
For those aspiring to join the ranks of professional Santas, Mr Evans shared his top tips, which include seeking training and support, ensuring sufficient insurance, investing in a realistic outfit, developing a signature laugh, and researching the role thoroughly.
