Pembrokeshire town centre shop to close ‘until further notice’

A vehicle repair shop in a Pembrokeshire town has announced it will close for the “foreseeable until further notice”.

West Coast Wheels in Neyland has shut because of staff levels, renovation work and paternity leave.

Staff holidays have begun this week at the repair shop and the owners are expecting a newborn baby on January 4.

A spokesperson for West Coast Wheels posted on Facebook: “Due to circumstances around staff levels and upcoming paternity leave for myself, we have made the most difficult decision to close our Neyland branch for the foreseeable until further notice.

“Renovation work in our Neyland Workshop and staff holidays are starting next week which meant one week’s closure. Plus, we have a baby due around January 4 which also takes me out of our Neyland branch for a few weeks.

“Therefore, we have made the decision that closing this branch for now will be the best option until we can get back on our feet with staff and after the baby is born and we know all is ok.

“We apologies for any inconvenience. We will come back soon but for now if you need us, we will be in our Narberth branch where we can give exactly the same service as we do in Neyland, and roadside breakdowns will still be carried out as normal.”

“In 14 years, we have never had to do this and this is a case of no other option. If we can’t provide a great service, there is no point trying to.”

West Coast Wheels has clarified the shop is only temporarily shut and will return in 2025.

A further Facebook post said: “We are renovating our workshop, having a baby and getting Christmas out of the way.  We will be returning in January sometime. We just don’t know when because of our new arrival.

“Don’t you just love a bit of Pembrokeshire gossip, slack tongues and those who thrive off business failures.

“We are not a failing business. We are a thriving business. We have worked extremely hard to get where we are and tirelessly.

“Our Narberth branch is very much open for now and Neyland will be back soon.”
