A persistent thief who stole booze from a Co-op store in Lewisham has avoided a prison sentence.
Rachael Middleton, 33, of Crofton Park, was convicted of stealing bottles of alcohol totalling £195 over the course of three visits to the shop between August 5 and 12 this year.
Middleton also stole packs of fresh meat during her raids of the shop.
At Bromley Magistrates’ Court last Thursday (December 12) she was given a 16 week custodial sentence suspended for one year.
She was also ordered to pay £100 compensation.
Middleton has a history of theft and magistrates noted she has a “flagrant disregard” for court orders.
In 2019 she was jailed for 20 weeks for stealing chocolate from Co-op in Sidcup.
Then earlier this year she pleaded guilty to stealing £200 of wine from Sainsbury’s.
