Police crackdown in Pill: Man arrested for the possession of cannabis

GWENT POLICE have dealt with one man for being in possession of cannabis, recovered a vehicle and issued PSPOs all in one day spent in Pill, Newport.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “Newport West Officers have been busy in the Pill ward today (January 13).

“A male has been dealt with for possession of a class b drug – cannabis, a vehicle was recovered for causing an obstruction, and several stop searches conducted and PSPO (Public Spaces Protection Orders) enforced.”

Public Spaces Protection Orders are a control measure that aims to keep public spaces free from anti-social behaviour.

PSPOs are used to address specific problems in a defined area that are detrimental to the local community’s quality of life.

PSPOs can cover a range of activities, such as: Criminal damage, street drinking, rough sleeping, begging, littering, violence and aggressive or intimidating behaviour.
