Police plea to people living in two areas of Cardiff as search for missing woman intensifies

Police in Cardiff are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Charlene Hobbs, 35, who has not been seen for nearly six months. The search for the missing mum continued over the festive period including outdoor searches at various locations across Cardiff where she was last seen.

Now police are appealing for people who live in Splott and Roath to help with searches by checking their outbuildings and empty properties. Charlene has been missing since July 23, 2024. The last confirmed sighting of her is a mobile phone photograph taken at a property in Broadway, Adamsdown, at 6.07am the following day.

On July 23 Charlene was seen on CCTV in Morrisons Local, Adamsdown. Charlene’s hair bun and distinctive dragon tattoo was seen in the subsequent phone photo and she was wearing the same strapless top as the previous day when she was seen on CCTV.

Since there there have been a number of appeals for help and police officers have been conducting extensive inquiries including searches of numerous addresses, derelict premises, vehicles, and open land areas across south Wales. Detective chief inspector Matt Powell said: “As part of the ongoing search for Charlene I am urging anybody who lives in the Splott and Roath areas to please check their empty properties, or any sheds or outbuildings they own, where Charlene may have taken shelter and contact us immediately if they have any information that could us help us find her.”

He added: “Charlene is a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend to many. Like us they are all very concerned for her welfare and are desperate for answers.”
