Police vehicle rammed by stolen car after ‘high speed’ chase on M4

South Wales Police have shared the state one of their vehicles was left in after it was rammed by a stolen car on false plates as part of a “high speed pursuit” along the M4. The force have not said why they were pursuing the vehicle but shared that the driver was so intent on evading police that instead of stopping as directed, he initiated a high speed pursuit along the M4, then through the village of Pendoylan and towards Barry.

The force said that there were three people in the car at the time of the incident, a driver and two passengers. Sharing an image of the smashed unmarked police car, they said that with the assistance of the police helicopter, police dogs and officers on the ground, three people were soon arrested and taken in to custody.

They added that the three people in the vehicle thought they could get away with putting other motorists and pedestrians in danger. In addition to various driving and theft offences, the trio were also arrested for drugs offences, while the driver was also arrested on suspicion of domestic violence offences and attempted GBH of a police officer. The driver of the police vehicle was not injured in the incident.
