Two public engagement events will be held to discuss plans for Newgale’s coastal adaptation.
The Newgale Coastal Adaptation Project, led by Pembrokeshire County Council, has been in progress for some time, and proposals have now evolved through ongoing engagement and information gathering.
The council wants to share its ideas and thoughts at engagement sessions on Wednesday, January 29, and Saturday, February 1.
Those involved in the project will be present to explain the scheme elements of Phase 1 and answer questions.
This is also an opportunity for the public to share their views with the team.
The project aims to ensure Newgale is supported to become a resilient community that can adapt to a changing coastline and climate.
The council has appointed AtkinsRéalis to assist with the project’s development due to their specialist environmental services.
The first phase of the project includes four main scheme elements: rerouting the Newgale section of the A487, creating a new walking and cycling path through the village, changing access to the beach and coastal businesses, and releasing space for the beach to naturally adapt to coastal change.
Councillor Rhys Sinnett, cabinet member for resident services, said: “As this project moves forward, we hope that members of the public take the opportunity to find out more about the proposed scheme and are able to comment directly to staff involved in its development.”
To ensure everyone has an opportunity to have their say, an online appointment system is being run for each public event.

The events will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Victoria Hall, Roch, from 10am to 7pm, and on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Memorial Hall, St Davids, from 10am to 4pm.
