Epsom, Sutton, Modern and Croydon residents flocked to Bourne Hall and queued for water bottles after being left without water or experiencing low pressure.
Due to a fault at the Cheam Water Treatment Works, residents in Sutton, Carshalton, Morden, Cheam, North Cheam, Wallington, Hackbridge, Worcester Park, Epsom, Ewell, and South Croydon flocked to Bourne Hall where a bottled water station was being held.
Cars queued up last night as SES employees stocked them with packs of bottled water, while pedestrians carried the water back home.
Another bottle station was set up on the Upper High Street Car Park, KT17 4DU.
Just after 5.30pm yesterday (December 16), SES Water announced that residents would experience interruptions to their water supply.
Their engineers are reportedly working hard to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
A bottled water station was set up at Bourne Hall in Ewell and later on the Upper High Street Car Park, KT17 4DU.
Just after midnight today (December 17), SES Water confirmed that supplies are “starting to return to normal”.
At 7am today, a statement was released by SES Water on their website, and it states: “Unfortunately, our Cheam Treatment Works remains out of service.
“Work has been ongoing throughout the night and will continue until the issue is resolved.
“Overnight, we have been able to recover water supplies and have continued to utilise our network to manage storage in the area.
“Storage levels are very low and we would be grateful for our customers to use water carefully to preserve as much storage in the system as possible.”
