Reindeer, Santa, and a 3-person jumper come to shopping centre

THE KINGSWAY Centre transformed into a winter wonderland this past weekend, delighting visitors of all ages with a series of festive events that truly captured the spirit of the season.

From Santa’s Grotto to live gospel music, the centre was a hub of holiday cheer, welcoming families and friends to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.

One of the main attractions was Santa’s Grotto, where children had the chance to meet the jolly man himself, share their wish lists, receive a present, have photos, decorate cookies and make up bags of reindeer food to take home in a beautifully decorated setting.

Another highlight for many children was the special visit from reindeer, brought in from Gower. Youngsters eagerly gathered around to feed the gentle creatures and ask questions to the knowledgeable handlers.

Educating families about these enchanting animals, the handlers provided insights into their care and the role they play in Christmas lore, creating a memorable experience for all.

The air was filled with laughter and excitement as families lined up, ensuring that the magic of Christmas was alive and well in Newport.

The indoor market was equally bustling, featuring an array of crafts, gifts, and delectable food offerings from local vendors. Shoppers browsed handmade ornaments, artisanal treats, and unique gifts, all while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

The market was a perfect opportunity for residents to support local businesses while finding that special something for their loved ones. Adding to the festive ambiance was the Warehouse Church Choir, who graced the centre with their powerful gospel music.

Their stirring renditions of holiday classics filled the air, lifting spirits and inviting shoppers to pause and enjoy the soulful sounds of the season. Many visitors found themselves swaying to the rhythm and joining in on the festive sing-alongs.

For those looking for a bit of extra fun, the Kingsway Centre offered a free inflatable snow globe.

The weekend kicked off with a festive Christmas Jumper Competition on Friday evening, where participants showcased their most creative holiday sweaters. The winner, a trio of friends named Jordan, Beth, and Nikki, stole the show by stitching themselves together into a three-person jumper.

Their unique approach won them the coveted £1,000 of shopping vouchers to spend at the Kingsway Centre.
