RNLI lifeboat member given ‘stand out’ award after 121 hours voluntary service

A RNLI lifeboat volunteer in Pembrokeshire was recognised as a ‘stand out crew member’ after 121 hours of service.

Julian Whitewright, who is part of the crew at RNLI St Davids Lifeboat, was given the award at the Christmas dinner on Sunday (December 8).

Julian attended 37 exercises, 11 shouts and was involved in a three-hour search for a missing individual in his first call as a qualified inshore lifeboat helm.

RNLI St Davids Lifeboat posted on Facebook:

“At last night’s crew Christmas dinner, volunteers were thanked for their dedication and support in 2024. Stand out crew member Julian Whitewright spent most hours afloat this year with a total of 121 hours – attending 37 exercises and 11 shouts.

“Julian qualified as inshore lifeboat helm during the summer and his first shout as ILB helm saw him command the D-class to its operating parameters in a three hour search for a missing individual at night.

“Thank you to Julian and all our fabulous crew who continue to volunteer and save lives at sea.”
