Cobbles Kitchen, which has built up a reputation for selling mouth-watering, massive sandwiches by the sea will now be bringing back some of the original classics to their menu as they re-open their onsite cafe in Ogmore-by-Sea, Bridgend.
They will be relaunching their roast menu on Sunday, January 19 and their breakfast menu on Monday, January 20. Located at Tymaen Farm Buildings, their cafe was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic but the team managed to turn it around with their jaw-dropping sandwiches inspired by New York and Australian-style sandwiches.
The owner, Chloe Francis, grew up around food as her grandparents had two restaurants in the area. Her idea to switch up their menu came after experimenting with different sandwiches and fillings one day after lockdown, and she ended up concocting a Rhubarb sandwich. She was so happy with her result that she decided to change up her business model entirely. Cobbles in Ogmore is made up of several different barns focusing on their sandwich shop, weddings and events, a fish and chip shop and used to have a cafe on site. They also have a sandwich shop in Goodsheds, Barry.
But kicking off the new year in style, they have now welcomed a new chef who was keen to switch things up yet again. Owner Chloe told WalesOnline: “People were gutted when we closed the cafe.
“We won restaurant of the year two year in a row at the Wales Food Awards and loads of breakfast awards and we still get people walking through the door every single day asking about the breakfast so there’s a big buzz about it being back which is exciting.
“We’ve done a few tweaks on the menu so it’s very similar to what we used to do but we’ve modernised it and reinvented some elements so it is fresh and keeping us out there really.”

On the brunch menu, some of the key items include the Full Welsh Breakfast, which includes pork and leek sausage, maple bacon chop, and a leek and cheddar hash brown served with sourdough toast.
Vegetarians can try the Glamorgan sausage breakfast, while vegans can enjoy the Plant-Based Breakfast with avocado, plant-based scramble, and sourdough toast. Other dishes include the Reuben Eggs Beni with beef brisket and paprika hollandaise, or the Crispy Chicken Waffle Stack with barbecue sauce.
For something lighter, the Avocado Croissant is topped with smashed avocado, crispy kale, and hot honey. There are also fun options for kids, like fluffy pancakes or a smaller breakfast with sausage, bacon, and toast.

And on the roast’s menu, the Roast Platters are packed with fresh ingredients and you can choose from roast pork, chicken, or beef, or try a Duo or Trio of Meats. All platters come with classic sides like crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, maple-roasted carrots, and rich gravy.
Vegetarians can enjoy a wild mushroom and nut roast, and kids have their own roast options too. Extras like pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese are also available. For dessert, you could treat yourself to chocolate fudge cake, sticky toffee pudding, or an apple tart with Normandy cream.
