SES water supply ‘should return to normal by lunch’ after four days of issues

Water supply across south London is expected to return to normal by lunchtime today after four days of residents suffering low or no water.

Efforts to repair the fault at Cheam Water Treatment Works are progressing well according to SES Water and supplies are expected to be restored by lunchtime on December 19.

However, some customers in affected areas may still experience low water pressure or no supply throughout the morning.

The impacted areas include KT17, KT19, KT4, SM6, SM1, SM3, SM4, and SM5.

SES Water continues to urge residents to use water sparingly to help maintain the network’s capacity.

When water supplies return, some customers may notice discoloured, cloudy, or white water, or a change in smell.

This can often be resolved by running the cold kitchen tap until the water clears. For further advice, visit the SES Water website.

To support those without water, five bottled water stations are open from 6am today at the following locations:

•            Cheam Library, Church Rd, Sutton, SM3 8QH (access via Park Rd).

•            Bourne Hall, Ewell, KT17 1UG (access via Spring St).

•            Upper High Street Car Park, KT17 4DU (access via Upper High Street main road).

•            Westcroft Leisure Centre, Westcroft Rd, Carshalton, SM5 2TG.

•            St Paul’s Church, 15 Northey Avenue, Cheam, SM2 7HS.

Priority arrangements are in place for vulnerable customers, including those with visual impairments or limited mobility.

Residents in need of additional support can contact SES Water on 01737 772000 to request bottled water deliveries.

Information about the Priority Service Register is available on the SES Water website.
