A fish and chip restaurant in Southwark London has applied for a new premises licence to serve alcohol late into the night.
Efes Express Limited has submitted an application to Southwark Council on behalf of Jack the Chipper, located on Sawyer Street, to sell alcohol from Sundays to Thursdays until 11.30pm and on Fridays and Saturdays until 1am.
They also want to serve late-night refreshments on Fridays and Saturdays until 12.30am.
The application, dated December 5, can be viewed on the council’s website or at the Licensing Service office at 160 Tooley Street, London.
The restaurant’s current opening hours are Sunday to Thursday 10am to 11.30pm, and Friday and Saturday 10am to 1am.
The application states that any interested party can make representations about the possible impact of the new licence on the promotion of the licensing objectives.
These must be submitted in writing to the Licensing Service, either via their office address or email, and received within 28 days of the application date.
The Licensing Act 2003 sets out four licensing objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, the prevention of public nuisance, and the protection of children from harm.
The act allows premises to apply for a licence to sell alcohol, provide late night refreshments, and put on regulated entertainment like live music, dancing, and films.
